The season is changing. This year the Autumn Equinox will be on Friday, September 22, 2017; officially starting Fall at 3:03 PM CST. We went to our some of our staff and asked them what their favorite part of fall is:
The colors, and the cooler temperatures… and the fireplace. As soon as the weather is cool enough to open the windows, I light a fire. -Kathy Wilson, Business Service Director
Campfires, s’mores, the leaves changing colors, cooler temperatures, blankets, hoodies, and the start of our Outdoor Education Season. -Amy Massingill, Outdoor Education (OE) Director
When the leaves start to change at camp. The colorful reds, oranges and browns complimented by the deep greens of the Cedars. Oh…and CAMP FIRES!!! -Clint Scribner, Conference & Retreat (C&R) Director
Cooler weather! -Theresa McGinness, Food Service Director
The increase of butterfly activity here at camp. Our native plants allow the monarch butterflies a nice place to build energy before fighting the city life on their way to Mexico from Canada, and going home to attend the Texas Renaissance Festival (Weekends Sept 30th – Nov 26th) – Jessica, OE Coordinator
I love the beauty of it. -Irena, C&R Staff
There is so much to DO! Texas State Fair (Sept 29th – Oct 22nd), Halloween, pumpkin patches, end of daylight savings (Nov 5th), Thanksgiving… -Kristen, OE Instructor
Pumpkin Spice EVERYTHING! -Carrie, Food Service Staff
How quickly it gets dark. I love telling Star Stories, and this is a great time to tell the story of Persephone and the constellation of Virgo. -Mary Jo, OE Instructor
Video game releases and football! – Parker, OE Instructor
